I’ve journeyed towards a method of preparation of speeches that works for me. Experience has proved its worth. Public speaking for me has been about trying out lots of different modes of delivery, purposes and styles of speeches.
Spontaneity with structure is the key – the key to connecting with the audience. Even brilliantly redacted speeches delivered as scripts fail – they fail because they are not lived in the moment.
I’ve learnt that as a speaker I am not called to act out being me by memorizing my own words, but to actually be me directly before and with my audience.
